Montepulciano When you making tour of Tuscany , Montepulciano is definitely highly recommended. This hill town is located between the wonderful Val d’Orcia and Val di Chiana valleys, full of elegant Renaissance palaces, ancient churches, charming squares and hidden corners. Montepulciano have ideal position to stay and this is perfect base to explore this beautiful part of Tuscany, from here, you can reach the beautiful Pienza, the thermal village of Bagno Vignoni and Montalcino, then, on the other side of the Val di Chiana valey you can find a nice and charming Cortona.   Your tour can start from the main gate of the town Porta al Prato. From this point Montepulciano is crossed by a main long wide street called the Corso and finish to main square of the city Piazza Grande. Main street (il Corso) is full of all kinds of shops and fashionable stores. A series of beautiful and elegant palaces( like Palazzo Avignonesi) succeed one after the other, until you come in front of the Church of Sant’ Agostino, by Michelozzo. Continuing on the main street, you will meet incredible Palazzo Cervini, and two steps after is the home of Poliziano, a great poet and humanist and under the patronage of the famous Lorenzo dè Medici. Also, Poliziano was teacher to the Medici children.
